Pumas win the Cup
Nunnery Pumas rounded off a fine season by adding the Worcestershire County Cup to their Cheltenham League Title with a 3-1 victory over Evesham United at Malvern Town's ground
Well Done Pumas
Pumas are Champions
Nunnery Pumas secured the Cheltenham League U15 Championship at the first attempt without kicking a ball. Pumas nearest rivals, Forest Green and Cirencester, slugged it out knowing that whichever team won the game would be champions. However, the game ended 1-1 to hand the title to Pumas.

Pumas Christmas Hamper Raffle Result - December 2008
At the suggestion of Carol Rogerson and with donations of goodies from the Pumas parents, we put together a terrific hamper, which included such things as wines, spirits, puddings, shortbreads, chocolates, and loads of other nice things plus a £10 meat voucher and all presented in a wicker basket wrapped in fancy cellophane tied off with a bow. We reckon close on £100 quid’s worth!
The draw was to have taken place at our home game on 14th December but unfortunately this was postponed. As it happened this allowed some extra ticket sales before finally, the draw was made by Nikki Wilcox in the presence of Mark Wilcox (club vice chairman) and Lance Passey (Pumas Manager).
The winning ticket was blue, strip numbers 146 to 150 belonging to Sarah Hayes from Wichenford who collected her prize the day before Christmas Eve.
Congratulations to Sarah and many thanks go out to everyone who supported us by agreeing to buy tickets, which helped us to raise £217, that we will be put towards taking the lads on tour in May 2009.
Pumas add 6th new player - December 2008
Harry Wickett: started his season with Worcester Colts on a Sunday and still playing with Worcester City on a Saturday. Harry adds balance to our defensive unit as we only have one other predominantly left footed defender. Comfortable at full back and confident going forward preferring to pass rather than punt, Harry will fit with our style of play very well. He is also not shy in the tackle despite his naturally quiet way and slight physique.
Pumas Welcome New Players - October 2008
During the summer, Pumas have added five new players to their squad.
Aaron Thomasson has joined our goalkeepers union and will provide some stiff competition for Jordan our existing keeper. Aaron spent last season playing in the year above gaining some useful experience but has dropped back down to his proper age group. Competition for places is a healthy thing to have in a squad and hopefully both keepers will benefit as a result. The Pumas certainly will.
Bradley Taylor joins us from Kidderminster Lions. A combative, busy and skilful player, who will add another dimension to our midfield/forward play. Is also a useful right back as well. Brad links well with other players and gets through a tremendous amount of work.
Jordan Waller started his season with Worcester Colts where he has always played but unfortunately, the Colts no longer exist and Pumas have gained his services. Jordan is another combative player who is equally at home in midfield or defence. We look forward to the sort of performances from Jordan that we have come to expect against us in previous seasons.
Ben Rogerson. Currently only playing on Saturdays with the Kiddy Harriers U16 squad but previously with Kiddy Lions/Cookly on Sundays last season. A forward player with a keen eye for goal as well as good ability on the ball. Able to hold play up and bring others in to play, Ben will share the workload up front and add much needed support to Matt and Joe as well as goals.
Ryan Griffith, who also started his season with another club, Evesham United. Ryan is essentially a holding midfield player but like Brad, gets through a tremendous amount of hard work for the team. Very comfortable on the ball with good passing skills and no mean tackler either. Like Brad, Ryan adds to our midfield options and complements the existing players.
All these players have come to the Pumas looking for a new challenge which they will definitely get, not only from our opposition, but also from within the squad in what is now a healthy battle for a starting place.
We wish all five of you good luck and a successful season. The rest is up to you!
'Joner' Picks Up Honours - September 2008
Pumas budding young coach, Nathan Jones was nominated for and was successful in winning the 'Football Workforce Young Persons' award and was invited to receive his prize at the WFA’s Charter Standard Club Awards evening on 15th July 2008 (see photo) Nathan is working hard this summer/autumn to try and secure his scholarship at the prestigious Aston Villa Academy and will continue to help coach the Pumas when his busy schedule allows. He will also complete his Level 1 once his main prize has been secured and all of us associated with the Pumas wish him every success for the future.
Ashley Moves On - September 2008
Ashley Damm has decided to move on to pastures new after much soul searching and debate with Simon and Gill, his parents. Ash has been with us from the very beginning and always played with passion and a great deal of close control. A typical box player, pouncing on any chance or half chance and possessing a keen eye for goal. One of those guys who seemed to thrive on combat whether it is with the opposition, his Dad on the line or even his own teammates! He seemed to use this to get the best out of himself. Ash’s other love is cricket at which he has achieved county standard and if he ever missed footy, that was what he was doing! Ash, we wish you well for the future and thank you for your tremendous loyalty and contribution to our success over the years. Likewise to Si and Gill, thanks guys.
Smiffy Gets His Chance - September 2008
Josh Smith has secured a contract at Walsall Football Club and we wish him all the best in his new adventure. Josh has been with the Pumas since the start when his dad Sean formed the team back at U9’s. A strong player capable of playing in many positions and one who will take some replacing. Josh has given tremendous service to the Pumas including being captain and always gave everything he had for the cause. He won individual honours with us as well as cup and league success. In addition to footy, Josh is also having success on the local junior golf circuit. Good luck mate, hope you make it!
Pumas to support Nathan against Manchester United - January 2008
Aza's brother Nathan has been assisting Lance and John this season. Nath' is an ex Nunnery Wood Tiger and is currently at Aston Villa in the U15's squad. He turns up to training every Wednesday (when he's not playing) and Friday to pass on some of his routines. Then again on Sundays to take charge of pre-match warm ups and very often runs the line too.
Nath is due to play for the Villa during half term on Wednesday 13th Feb at Chase Town FC against Man U. To return his loyalty, we would like to take as many Pumas as possible to support him and to see "how the Pros do it"!
Good luck Nath and thanks for all your support so far this season.
Pumas Parents Christmas night out - January 2008
We have decided to carry this into the New Year, as a lot of us were committed with family stuff over Christmas, also, it might help to liven up January which is usually quiet.
Karen and Sally have suggested an early evening bowling session followed by a visit to some local hostelries then on for a curry in St. Johns.
Saturday Jan 26th is the date for your diaries so please could you call Karen ASAP to confirm your attendance so that she can make all the arrangements.
Lads v Dads Christmas match - December 2007
On 30.12.07 there was an excellent turnout for this annual event with about 15-a-side including players, their brothers, dads, uncles, one sister, one mum and all refereed by Tony "The Godfather" Hayes (a granddad), in his own inimitable style. The rest of the parents, etc, cheered on from the sidelines.
The Dads bossed the first half with superstar centre forward Wayne Jones netting a hat trick, assisted by Simon Damm with at least one. (Memories of Toshack and Keegan). John Hayes and Brian Somers were solid at the back, despite John nursing a wicked hangover from the Christmas festivities. Guesting at left back was Stu Hayes who had travelled all the way from Canada just to take part; such is the draw of this fixture!
Dads took pity at the start of the second half and allowed Jordan's two brothers, Matt and Steve, our midfield generals, to swap teams. Big Mistake! The lad's side began to take control playing some nice football they drew level and eventually won the game as the dads' minds began to wander to the Pub or their favourite armchair! If it weren't for a string of fine saves from Sean in the dad's goal the lads would have scored a few more.
The godfather had a rest in the last 15 minutes and Sarah took the whistle. Strict or what! Anyway, the lads gave us a chance to redeem ourselves in a penalty shootout and with the scores level, Lance evened things up by calmly stroking home the last penalty. Honours even.
Thanks to everyone for turning out, it was good fun.
Pumas get new sponsors - November 2007
We would all like to thank Rachel Gowers for securing new sponsorship for the Pumas from Worcester College of Technology. A letter of thanks has been sent to the college, together with a photo of the team so they can see what they have sponsored. (See photo in U14's section of Pumas history)
With the college's support we have purchased a brand new kit in their corporate colours of navy and gold. It looks really smart and the lads love it. Thanks also to Darren and Jacqui from "Football kitz n pieces" for their prompt and professional service as kit suppliers.
Rachel will also be organising a professional photo shoot at the college in the near future for their marketing departments portfolio.
Thanks once again Rachel for making this happen.
