NUNNERY WOOD COLTS FC
SUPPORTING COMMUNITIES HOME AND AWAY!
Nunnery Wood Colts FC has been established in the local community for many years and as a result of developing and supporting mini soccer and youth football through its team development, we have aimed to support the local community.
It is important that as a Club we recognise the work of local, national and international charities and where possible support them in what ever small way that we can. This season, 2009/2010, we have appointed a Charities Coordinator to formalise our approach and to ensure that we identify opportunities for providing support and whilst not being affiliated to any specific charity, we work together as a Club to make a contribution to worthwhile causes in whatever way possible. With everyone's support we can really make a difference.
So what have we been doing so far?
CHILDREN IN NEED 2009
This season Nunnery Wood Colts have supported Children in Need and on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd November, collections were made at games we were involved in and also at our Development Centre on the 21st. We were very pleased to be able to donate £76 to CIN as a result.
SUPPORTING CHILDREN IN KENYA 2009
This year we are very pleased to be supporting the voluntary work of Paul and Carol McCartney who work tirelessly in their own time with schools, villages and orphanages in the Mombassa area of Kenya. Paul and Carol have been visiting the area for many years now on their annual holiday during which time they distribute stationery, clothes, toys, football kits, boots, trainers, shoes and even used laptops. They rely entirely on donations and their time is purely voluntary. Paul and Carol are held in high regard and during the 2009 trip in October, in recognition of the work they have done, Paul and Carol were invited to open a brand new school near Mombassa. Nunnery Wood Colts donated several kits, track suit tops and trainers this year and these have been distributed amongst the children visited in October. Thanks to everyone who has helped so far. Here is a photograph of Paul with children from a local school wearing a kit donated locally, along side a photograph of a football match held in during the 2008 visit. This was the first match in the area where young players wore kits donated via Paul and Carol.
SPORT RELIEF 2010
In March 2010 SPORT RELIEF will be taking place and once again people all over the country will be running a mile in support of charities that help children everywhere.
Nunnery Wood Colts FC will be aiming to support this event and further information will be available soon.
