About

History

Nunnery Wood Colts FC started with one team founded by current WBA youth coach John Bateman in 1990. In the following seasons further teams were added and our reputation in both the city and the county grew. We moved to the old Metal Box ground at Battenhall Road, establishing our much valued links with University of Worcester.

Club of the year

We are committed to giving all Nunnery Wood Colts players the best environment to enjoy their footballing journey, in a well organised, safe and secure environment. Nunnery Wood Colts FC are a Charter Standard Community accredited Club which means we adhere to the highest Charter standard set by the FA. This culminating at the City of Worcester Sports Awards winning Best club of the year award 2019.

Ambition

Nunnery Wood Colts FC has grown close to 30 teams, with Boys and Girls teams representing the club at all age groups in all major Worcestershire football leagues, including the Midland junior Premier Leagues (MJPL), where we compete with the best football teams in the Midlands including teams from professional clubs. If you have ambition to be scouted by a professional club, we believe the MJPL is the best environment for our most talented players.

Development

We continually support our coaches with CPD events delivered by UEFA-B  West Bromwich Albion Youth Coaching sessions and mentor all our coaches with support from experienced senior coaches and team managers. In addition, we financially support our coaches development in attaining their FA qualifications up to FA level 2.

All our team managers are minimum:

  • FA Level 1 Qualified (many FA Level 2)
  • Advanced DRB checked
  • FA Safeguarding registered
  • Emergency First Aid trained

While many of coaches are FA level 1 or 2 qualified with a minimum:

  • Advanced DRB checked
  • FA Safeguarding registered
  • Emergency First Aid trained

Structure

Our club is based on a team autonomy model which  gives all our managers the freedom to set their own subs, each team has their own team treasurer to jointly manage all financial matters rather than paying into a central pot which many other clubs operate. This allows our teams to organise social events and purchase new kit when they need to rather than when the club deems it necessary.

FA Charter Standard Community Accredited

FA Charter Standard Community Award acknowledges Nunnery Wood Colts FC as attaining the most advanced level of club development and football provision. Clubs which achieve The FA Charter Standard accreditation are challenged to maintain high standards and, where appropriate, to improve and progress to new levels. The accreditation makes a positive difference to the way clubs are run and to people’s enjoyment of football. The FA aims to support all grassroots clubs to reach Charter Standard status through our network of County FA’s.

Clubs who achieve Charter Standard status are proud to prioritise qualified coaching and safeguarding as well as the values of The FA’s Respect campaign as part of their game. Nunnery Wood Colts FC we are always looking at ways to grow participation, involve a variety of different people and offer different formats in their football environments.

Nunnery Wood Colts FC Summer Tournament

Nunnery Wood Colts FC Summer tournament is traditionally hosted last weekend of May mid summer school term. This has become Worcestershire’s must attend football tournament with excellent local press coverage. During the course of the weekend we host in excess of 100 teams ranging in age from u7s to u14s, attracting teams from far outside our area. All the funds raised are put back into the club allowing us to purchase new goals and equipment,  give our new teams a financial sound footing to provide new kit and training gear. We are fortunate to have an army of parent volunteers who help run the tournament over the weekend, without which would not be possible.
